Responsibilities of the Driver Trainer

  • Agrees to provide a vehicle that is registered, roadworthy and has full comprehensive insurance.
  • Abides by the South Australian Motor Driving Instructors Code of Conduct.
  • Agrees to provide lessons at the booked time and date. If for any reason this is not possible, the instructor will notify the client as soon as possible and will either make up for lost time at the end of the lesson (if convenient for both parties) or add the time lost to the next appointment.
  • If the instructor needs to cancel a lesson, they will endeavour to contact the client as soon as possible.
  • Provides a respectful, safe, relaxed, inclusive and supportive environment and treats all personal information and documents as private and confidential.

Responsibilities of the Client

  • Provide a current South Australian Learners Permit (Class C) or equivalent overseas licence and carry it at all times during a lesson, along with your Driving Companion book.
  • Be on time at the agreed location. Lessons that do not commence on time will not have time extended at the end. The client must contact the instructor as soon as possible if they are going to be late or need to cancel. The instructor will wait a maximum of 10 minutes and will terminate the lesson if the client is a no-show and has failed to make contact.
  • Not be under the influence of drugs, alcohol or prescription medication that may affect their driving. If the instructor believes the client is unfit to drive, they reserve the right to cancel or end the lesson and full payment will apply. No refunds will be given.
  • Not act in an abusive or disrespectful manner towards the trainer or any other road users. Follow all instructions given by the trainer and not drive in a dangerous or reckless manner. The trainer reserves the right to cancel or terminate the lesson should any of this occur or if the trainer feels unsafe. Full lesson fees apply.
  • Wear appropriate closed-in shoes. No high heels, thongs or bare feet.
  • Switch off all mobile phones prior to entering the training vehicle.

Cancellation Policy

  • All fees must be paid prior to the commencement of the lesson.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, or a no-show at the start time, will be charged the full price of the lesson fee.
